Well, for this assignment I am going to be talking about the different things I use the internet for. There are so many things I do on the internet and that includes networking, watching television episodes, online conversations, shopping, and I have now started to take online classes. The internet has became such a vital tool in today's society that some people have a hard time living without it. I certainly have when trying to give up Facebook for a day or two. It truly feels like I am disconnected from the world and I do not know what to do with myself. I started using the internet when it had the Dial-Up connection and I would use it for Myspace, games, or fantasy football leagues. Other than that, I rarely used it because I just had no use for it because I was younger.
I think it is funny to see my parents and older family members try and use the internet or other technology that came out in my generation. Both of my parents have a Facebook which makes life impossible because now everything I say on there, my parents will see and they just always have to comment on a status or something. I literally had to sit down with my mom and tell her to stop and tone down the things she says on there because it was becoming embarrassing. My dad uses a Blackberry for his work and is amazed at how a little piece of plastic could do so many things. He gets easily distracted by the games on there. I do feel that the older generation will catch on soon with us because it is becoming an important tool in society and some companies run based on technology.
Overall, I feel that technology is for everyone but not everyone is willing to learn how to use it. As long as you are trying to figure it out, people can help you along the way and teach you different things so you can get to the point where you are helping others with technology.
